A good leader is a motivator and communicates well to the fellow members.Leadership is the activity of influencing people to strive willingly for group objective.Leader is a person who leads or commands a group organization or country.When I think about leaders ,there are so many leaders who come into my mind.Here I would like to describe about two leader
- Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru 2) Mother Teresa
1).Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru: The father of Indian Democracy. He was the first prime minister of India from 1947 -1964 .He was one of the freedom fighter for Independence . He was a man of vision .He played a major role in shaping modern India’s government and political culture along with sound foreign policy.He was a practical political leader with socialist leanings.He urged industrialization to develop India’s economy and raise living pattern .He loves children he inspires children or the future citizens as he called them.Children called him Cha-cha (uncle) Nehru ,his birthday on November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day.His leadership traits were admirable ,he was cheerful, always well dressed ,cunning ,lusty and a good communicator.He bring hope to those around him during periods of conflict or uncertainty.He always understands the needs for change and improvement.He always had a vision about the necessary changes and how to make it happen.He always communicate to his co workers clearly and passionately.He was following the transformational leadership style .
2 ).Mother Theresa : Mother Theresa is a nun and she is known in the Catholic Church as Saint Theresa of Calcutta .She devoted her life to caring for the sick and poor .In 1979,Mother Theresa received the Noble Peace Prize for her humanitarian work.She died in September 1997.In September 4 ,2016 Pope Francis Canonized her .After her father’s death Agnes became extraordinarily close to her mother.Her mother counseled her that “ never eat a single mouthful unless you are sharing it with others”.In her 18 yrs old Agnes decided to become a nun and set off for Ireland to join the Sisters of Loreto in Dublin and took the name Sister Mary Teresa. .A year later Sister Mary Teresa traveled on to Darjeeling, India, for the novitiate period. In 1931 she was sent to Calcutta. In October 1950, she won canonical recognition for a new congregation, the Missionaries of Charity. On May 24,1937 ,she took her final Profession of vows to a life of poverty ,chastity and obedience After her medical training ,she voyaged for the first time into Calcutta’s slums with no more specific a goal than to aid “the unwanted, the unloved, the uncared for .She was a courageous lady.She created actions to help the city’s poor .She was a good organized leader and she was using Charismatic leadership style, servant leadership style and Situational leadership style.Also her style was Relationship oriented .She says “Loneliness and the feeling of being unwanted is the most terrible poverty”She always says her followers “Not all of us can do great things ,but we can do small things with great love “.The traits of her leadership were empathy,listening,awareness,healing,community building and committed to growth of others .
